The TLDR version:

Who is ISG Patrol, and what services do we offer: We are a Security Patrol service in Dallas Texas offering night-time vehicle patrols of client properties, and we have been for more than 25 years with the same people.

We do that one thing better than anyone else in this market.

We do NOT offer Guard Service, Standing Guards, Special Event Guards, Alarm Systems, Courier Services, Personal Protective Services, or Camera Systems.  Although we do integrate with all of those things when needed. But as stand-alone products or services, we don’t focus on those, we focus on Security Patrol Services, and only in the Dallas area.

More Details:

It may seem counter-intuitive, but it’s helpful to understand who we are and what we do by looking at what we DON’T do.  For many years we offered Guards, Cameras, Protective Services and Investigative work. We have largely moved away from those to focus only on Security Patrol. It’s what we enjoy, and what we do best. But we leverage our experience in all phases of security to better help our customers in whatever we’re doing.

Guard Service is a good business, but the supervisory and human resources responsibilities were taxing and deeply frustrating. We interviewed, hired, trained, employed, and terminated over 800 security guards during that time.  And, while we found that we were good at it, it just simply didn’t make us happy, so we knew we wouldn’t want to continue doing it.

Cameras are also a very good business. And we enjoyed designing and working with those systems, and learning about the technology quite a bit. But we were constantly frustrated by developing the best solution for a client only to be disappointed in the results. No one pays attention to the existence of cameras, they didn’t deter any crime, didn’t assist in handling an issue, and the police were unable to do anything with the footage once a crime was committed.  The dream of using technology to prevent a crime, or solve a crime just doesn’t happen very often.  So clients were disappointed. And we were disappointed in disappointing people.

Personal Protective Work is fascinating but, while it was fun and interesting, it just wasn’t a very good business.  It’s uneven and streaky, and not a way to make a living. Also, preparings for the work and executing it always made doing the patrols at the same time difficult. We felt like we were shorting our patrol duties.

Investigative Work was also interesting but, like Protective work, it wasn’t a good business.  In addition, it was depressing and often just felt unhealthy, both for the clients and for us. And, again like Protective work, it was disstracting from our night work.

Patrol is our focus.  And we love it.  We were told, rightly, that we’d never make a lot of money doing Patrols in Dallas.  It’s true.  But with just a small tight-knit few people we can run our own company, live our lives without adopting dozens to hundreds of employees and all their accompanying personal issues and dramas, or constantly disappoint clients, or feel disgusted by the work we do.

We are able to manage risks effectively, work safely, and genuinely provide a beneficial service to clients, and feel good about what we do.  Those things couldn’t be said for the other types of business we were in, so we stopped doing them.
